Have You Considered Making An Adoption Plan?

Making an adoption plan for your child may seem overwhelming. Are you wondering, “How can I carry a baby for 9 months and walk away?” or “If I choose adoption, will my child hate me?”

Like all of your options for your unplanned pregnancy, adoption is not an easy decision. Your questions are legitimate, and we hope to answer these and many more.

What Does It Mean To Make An Adoption Plan?

Adoption is a lifelong family relationship between adoptive parents and your child. It’s a permanent and legal transfer of all parental rights from birth parents or legal guardians to adoptive parents.

When you make an adoption plan for your child, you choose the parents to raise them and the environment where they will grow up.

There are three different adoption plans. You choose the one that is right for you and your child’s future.

Three Adoption Plans

Begin by selecting a reputable adoption agency or specialist to help you. A birth mother should never pay for adoption services.

Open Adoption

Most adoptions today are open. With this plan, you look through profiles of potential adoptive couples and pick the perfect one to raise your child. You have the opportunity to connect with them before birth, at the hospital, and after the adoption is finalized.

Together, you and the adoptive family determine the type of communication you would like moving forward.

Closed Adoption

With this plan, your adoption specialist chooses a family based on your wishes. You and the family have no contact, and you both remain anonymous. When the adoption is finalized, the courts seal all records.

Semi-Open Adoption

The adoptive family and birth family share first names only. You can communicate with one another, but your adoption specialist handles all communication.
